“Kappa Delta has given me true friendships to last a lifetime and has made me a more confident person,” says Kristin Murphy, Zeta Delta-Connecticut. Kappa Delta also gave Kristin support to pursue her career goals. After college, Kristin made plans to attend a graduate program to obtain her doctorate in physical therapy and found help from the Kappa Delta Foundation. While flipping through an issue of The Angelos, Kristin saw an advertisement for the foundation’s graduate scholarships, decided to apply and was selected as the 2010 Alumna Grant for Continuing Education Scholarship recipient. “It helped defray the cost and made graduate school more affordable. It was a big help,” she says. Now serving as the director of physical therapy at IvyRehab Physical Therapy in Princeton, New Jersey, Kristin says she can “give back to an organization that has given so much to me.” From volunteering for a local KD chapter to donating to the Kappa Delta Foundation, giving back has remained a priority for her. “My work with collegians helps keep me young!” jokes Kristin, who serves on the chapter advisory board for Zeta Theta-New Jersey. “I feel connected to our mission when I see collegians graduate, go on to have wonderful careers and do amazing things in the world.” Kristin’s gifts to the foundation ensure more KD collegians will have opportunities to pursue their dreams. By helping to fund scholarships, personal development opportunities and leadership training, Kristin is building confidence and inspiring action in her KD sisters. “I give to organizations where I have a strong personal connection. The Kappa Delta Foundation does great work both within our sisterhood and in our communities, and I am proud to support our mission.” The Kappa Delta Foundation receives seven times more applications than it has available scholarships.
