Kappa Delta's 62nd Biennial National Convention was filled with experiences that touched the hearts and lives of more than 900 Kappa Delta collegians and alumnae. Sisters, family and friends raised more than $64,000 in support of the foundation's White Rose Garden, breaking records as the most successful garden in Kappa Delta history! Donations to the White Rose Garden support Kappa Delta's leadership, educational and charitable initiatives, including leadership training provided at National Convention. The foundation funded more than $47,000 in support of general and breakout sessions that focused on achieving personal and professional success. Topics included building confidence, financial responsibility, professional development and sexual assault and hazing prevention and education. Attendees also had the opportunity to bid on silent auction items, which included jewelry donated by Delta Eta-South Florida alumnae Mona Jain and Anila Jain and a hand-stitched quilt crafted by Jean Schricker Grader, Gamma Zeta-Texas Christian. At the foundation's lunch, these six new scholarship endowments were announced: • DOT MEARS SCHOLARSHIP endowed for KD undergraduates residing in Georgia • TRICIA RUMA SPENCE SCHOLARSHIP endowed for KD graduate students initiated at Epsilon Alpha-Missouri S&T pursuing a degree in a STEM field • SARA AND MELISSA BETA RHO SCHOLARSHIP endowed for KD undergraduates from the Beta Rho Chapter at San Diego State • BONNIE PURVIS WARREN SCHOLARSHIP endowed for KD undergraduates from any chapter • LULA WALKER ALPHA PI SCHOLARSHIP endowed for KD undergraduates from Alpha Pi-William & Mary • LULA WALKER ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP endowed for KD undergraduates from any chapter pursuing a degree in accounting This year's scholarship, internship and grant recipients are listed on the following pages. As a donor to the foundation, you advance Kappa Delta's leadership, educational and philanthropic initiatives. You build confidence and inspire action in your sisters nationwide. Thank you! MEET THE KAPPA DELTA FOUNDATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS At the Kappa Delta Foundation board of directors meeting on June 27, retiring Chairman Bonnie Purvis Warren turned over the reins to newly elected Chairman and former National President Beth Martin Langford. Bonnie was elected to the foundation board in 2001 and served as a director and vice chairman before assuming the chairmanship in 2013. Under Bonnie's leadership, the foundation increased total dollars granted to support the leadership, educational and philanthropic purposes of KD by 65 percent, and fundraising increased by 47 percent. Fifteen new scholarships were introduced, and 10 more are in progress. The technological and organizational infrastructure were significantly updated, and there are now four full-time foundation employees. Although Bonnie is retiring as chairman, the foundation is grateful she will continue her service as a director. In other board business, Patty Graham Cappaert was elected vice-chairman, Cheryl Grant Sizer was elected secretary-treasurer, and Jaynee Drange Groseth was re-elected to serve as a director. Additionally, National President Tricia Ruma Spence serves as a director, and she appointed Karen Thomas Fesmire, national vice president-membership, and Jodi Scheurenbrand, national vice president-finance, to serve on the board. They will serve with board members whose terms are continuing. 2017-2019 KAPPA DELTA FOUNDATION BOARD CHAIRMAN BETH MARTIN LANGFORD Kappa Alpha-Florida State VICE-CHAIRMAN PATTY GRAHAM CAPPAERT Beta Sigma-Southern Mississippi SECRETARY-TREASURER CHERYL GRANT SIZER Epsilon Eta-Illinois State JODY JENKINS CORRY Sigma Phi-Georgia KAREN THOMAS FESMIRE Beta Tau-Vanderbilt JAYNEE DRANGE GROSETH Sigma Omega-Montana State SUE BRAUER MICKELBERG Sigma Sigma-Iowa State MICHELLE PARMLEY RABIDEAU Sigma Omicron-Illinois JODI SCHEURENBRAND Kappa Alpha-Florida State TRICIA RUMA SPENCE Epsilon Alpha-Missouri S&T BONNIE PURVIS WARREN Beta Sigma-Southern Mississippi EX OFFICIO MEMBER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR PAMELA NIX Sigma Phi-Georgia FOUNDATION CONGRATULATES SCHOLARSHIP AND GRANT RECIPIENTS UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS The Kappa Delta Foundation is proud to award 54 undergraduate scholarships totaling $105,500 for the 2017-2018 academic year.
